Do I need a reservation to paint pottery?

Nope! Abide is a walk-in pottery studio, so you're welcome to stop in during our regular studio hours. For larger groups, parties or special gatherings, we recommend planning ahead so we can make sure there's plenty of room for everyone.

How much does pottery painting cost? Is there a studio fee?

There is no separate studio fee at Abide. The price you see on your pottery includes the use of our paints and supplies, glazing and firing. Simply choose a piece that fits your style + budget and start creating.

How much time should I plan for painting?

Most guests spend around 1.5–2 hours painting, although you're welcome to work at your own pace during studio hours. More detailed pieces may take a little longer.

How long does it take to get my pottery back?

Our current turnaround time is approximately 2 weeks. Once your piece has been glazed and fired, we'll let you know it's ready for pickup. Turnaround times may occasionally vary during especially busy seasons.

Can we keep painting after closing if we're already there?

If you're already painting before closing time, there's no need to panic when the clock hits closing! We want you to enjoy the experience and finish your piece. We just ask that guests arrive with enough time to get settled, choose pottery and start creating before our posted closing time. If you're here before we close, we'll host you until you finish.

Finishing + Firing

Do I have to finish my pottery in one visit?

Not at all! Take your time. Because we have limited storage space, unfinished pottery can't stay at the studio between visits, but we're happy to package it up for you to take home. Bring it back during regular studio hours whenever you're ready to keep painting.

Can I take my pottery home to paint?

Yep! Ask us about taking your piece and paints home to finish. When you're done, bring everything back to Abide and we'll take care of glazing + firing your piece. Be sure to keep your receipt so we can easily match everything up when you return.

Can I buy a piece now and paint it another day?

Absolutely — and if you see something you love, we actually recommend it! Our pottery selection changes frequently and some pieces sell out quickly. Purchase it, take it home safely packaged, and bring it back with your receipt whenever you're ready to paint.

Can I bring pottery from somewhere else for you to fire?

We only glaze and fire pottery purchased through Abide Collective. Different clay bodies, glazes and materials require different firing temperatures, so this helps us protect our kiln and everyone else's pieces.

What happens if something goes wrong in the kiln?

Pottery is wonderfully unpredictable! Tiny imperfections, glaze variations or unexpected changes can occasionally happen during firing. We take great care with every piece, but kiln-fired pottery is handmade by nature and results can vary. If something significant happens to your piece during our firing process, we'll work with you to make it right.

Can I request a certain pottery piece?

Please do! If there's a shape or style you'd love to see at Abide, let us know. We can't guarantee that we'll be able to source a particular item, but we're always happy to keep requests in mind when ordering new pottery.

Pickup

How long will you hold my finished pottery?

Please plan to pick up finished pottery within 30 days of being notified that it's ready. Need a little extra time? Just contact us! We're happy to work with you when we know what's going on. Pieces left beyond 30 days without communication may be donated or discarded due to limited storage.

Can someone else pick up my pottery for me?

Absolutely. Make sure they know the name used when you checked out so we can find your pieces. Once pottery leaves the studio with you or your designated pickup person, Abide is no longer responsible for its care or transportation.

Kids + Families

Is pottery painting kid-friendly?

Very! Pottery painting is designed for creatives of all ages. We have pottery options that work especially well for little artists, too.

Can I drop my child off to paint?

During regular studio hours, children need to remain under the supervision of their accompanying adult. Certain kids' classes or events may specifically be offered as drop-off experiences — when that's the case, we'll clearly note it in the event details.

Parties + Groups

Can I bring a group to paint?

Absolutely! Abide is made for creating together. We welcome birthdays, girls' nights, bridal celebrations, team building, school groups, church groups and other gatherings. Visit our Parties + Groups page to learn more and plan your visit.

Can I book a private group outside your regular studio hours?

Yes! Private group visits may be available outside our regular walk-in hours. Send us your preferred date, approximate group size and what you're celebrating, and we'll let you know what's available.

Can Abide come to us?

Yes! We offer off-site pottery experiences for qualifying groups. Off-site events have a minimum purchase requirement, and pottery can be selected and paid for in advance to make event day easy. Contact us with your group size, location and preferred date and we'll help you figure out the best setup.

Good to Know

Can I bring food or drinks?

Yes! You're welcome to bring snacks and non-alcoholic drinks to enjoy while you paint. For parties or larger groups bringing food, reach out ahead of time so we can help you plan your setup.

Are your painted pieces food-safe?

Once properly glazed and fired, pieces painted with our studio glazes are designed to be functional according to the pottery and glaze manufacturer's intended use. We'll let you know if a particular piece is decorative-only.
